Wigmore Hall début recital – November 2006
ITG Website

‘The recital was notable not only for Morgan’s consummate musicianship and impressive variety of tone and approach, but also for his incredible endurance. I was amused to find this on Morgan’s blog, written several months before the November concert, and discussing its planning: “It will come as no surprise that my main difficulty has been the question of stamina versus challenging pieces.” Well actually yes, having seen the Wigmore concert it does indeed come as a surprise, because it appears that Morgan simply has no endurance issue. He just went on delivering impeccable performances throughout this highly challenging programme. From his daring performance of the Fasch, through his warm, glowing tone at the start of the Enescu and his light, graceful approach to the Francaix, to his outrageously good triple-tonguing in the Arban, this was a recital to remember.’

‘If, on the other hand, high intelligence and immaculate professionalism were the order, Huw Morgan fitted the bill to perfection in his sun-kissed yet super-cool Trumpet Concerto by Henri Tomasi. Morgan, also a principal with the NYO, will surely make it to the top whatever happens.’
